I suspect that accepting the truth is first and foremost. As in, accepting that Israel is committing genocide and that the US is complicit in it. Then condemning it and apologising for supporting it. Then considering what you can do about it. Then offering to help those who are helping the victims.

The reality is that we have had not quite 50 years of Reaganism and Thatcherism. The anti/pre New Deal ideology behind this has indeed taken us back, in many ways, to the 1920s economically. As a result, look around the world: Far right, and to a lesser extent, far left movements have taken root in ways we have not seen since the 1920s and 1930s. The economic disparities of a century ago have reappeared. The social disruptions of a century ago have reappeared. We have to get past Thatcherism (which preceded Reaganism by three years).

Good afternoon from the beautiful SF Bay Area. Thank you so much for these excellent discussions. First, I have always been impressed that Billy Graham set up his organization whereby his salary was set along with his raises, AND he was never to be alone with a woman not his wife. These two decisions governed a morally upstanding organization. Second, I really appreciated your observations on European politics and how they intersect with America. We are in very tenuous times and need all the spiritual support we can muster. Blessings.

Abuse is rampant and systemic in evangelical Christianity. Christianity Today themselves had a sexual harrassment scandal a few years ago, and we found out that the CT workplace was toxic for women. Young Life had their sexual misconduct scandal in 2021. There was heinous conduct by SBC leaders Paige Patterson, Frank Page, and Paul Pressler. There were Sovereign Grace Ministries, James MacDonald at Harvest Bible Chapel, Andy Savage at High Point megachurch in Tennessee, and Mark Driscoll at Mars Hill. Also Tony Evans. Now Robert Morris at Gateway. And there are so many more. Evangelicals appear unable to do anything to fix this, and so they are now witnessing the growth and flourishing of secular America. It is secular people, not Christians, who are most effectively calling out Christian sexual abuse. Ethical atheists on UA-cam, with strong moral reasoning skills, are calling out Christian wrongdoing. They are attracting more and more followers, especially among young people. In these ways, in the departure of many of their members, the disappearance of most of their youth, and the loss of revenue, evangelicals will be thoroughly and justly held accountable for their heinous behavior. Meanwhile, I will continue to advocate for justice for those who have suffered from abuse by Christian pastors, youth pastors, and youth ministry lay leaders. Evangelical Christianity has failed.

To look deep into what has happened in evangelism without not seeing the amazing work God has done is bad resurch. This book written to critique a few leaders failures over the nationals history falls short at best when there have been Hundreds of amazing Christian evangelicals preaching the true gospel. Jesus and John Wayne is so far off on the evangelical world i grew up with books like "Wild a Heart" and " Bringing up boys". They are fantastic books teaching Men to be Men. We as Christian men need masculine leaders that haven't pushovers but truly follow biblical masculinity.. We need men like Paul and Barnabas that stood up to athoritarian dictates. Jesus and John Wayne in no way represent thousands of strong Christian men that protect there familys from the crazy WOKE world we live in. Its good to see many Christian leaders finally standing up against books like this. We need to impowering men to love like Jesus and serve our country. Roman's 13

Music, hymns, poetry, and scripture are stored in a different part of the brain than memory and language. After her first stroke, my mother could not make a sentence, but she could sing every hymn she had ever heard. It calmed her when all else failed. She had both expressive and receptive aphasia, so she could not communicate any other way.

Good morning from the beautiful SF Bay Area. Excellent show, Russell, although I come from a different perspective (I did grow up in an Evangelical clan, father was a Presbyterian minister) it is instructive for me to see how today's churches are grappling with these issues. When I left the church it was after realizing many biblical teachings were badly out of date. My father, God bless him, didn't realize he was trying to keep us "stupid" in the face of modern science. Why is there so much fear around seeing how God the Master Creator actually did it? Five thousand year old folk myths do not hold up against the facts of God's glorious universe. And the sad conflicts around women is just that, sad. The world has changed and we must change with it where it is right, and help guide where it is wrong. I love to hear your perspectives and argue with some of them as I listen. I loved your last book and sent it to my sister who has fallen down the rabbit hole. Don't know if she read it although she said she would. Blessings!

Sadly, when the largest Protestant denomination in America (the SBC) continues to toss this issue back and forth like a hot potato while in essence doing nothing, I think churches are still light years away from any comprehensive change at the congregational level. What appears to be happening at present is more like a rearranging of deck chairs on the Titanic. There actually seems to be a doubling down on "scriptural clarity" regarding the roles of women as corrupt male leaders are being exposed in ever increasing numbers, and the balance of power is experiencing seismic shocks that are difficult to account for. I wonder how long it will take for the viper's den to be cleaned out . . . I suspect it's going to be a while yet.

The Bible says the Holy Spirit is being withdrawn from humanity, because He has been grieved, rejected, and tossed aside. The carnal man is not subject to the law of God, either indeed can be. The Lord wants to restore the image of God/Elohim in us, but we will not surrender, die to self and let Jesus restore us. Adam and Eve started out whole and beautiful, enjoying The daily visit of the Lord with them and that of Holy Angels. Then Satan entered, sin entered, resulting in lawlessness. In two generations, lying, blaming, accusing, hiding, hatred, rebellion and open disrespect for God’s word and will, anger, violence and outright murder had occurred. Man and his carnal nature reigned supreme, selfishness and violence increased, truth and a knowledge of God was forgotten, and man worshipped himself and anything else he had a mind to. But a grieving God, said I am sending a flood, because the image of God in man was ruined. “can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? then may you also so good who are accustomed to do evil.” Jeremiah 13:23. This is the reason we need a Savior, because Acts 4:12 is true. The church ‘s purpose is to present that Savior to all men, in thought, word and deed, according to the Bible, and the example of Jesus, Himself! If the church fail to do that, Jesus words “Your house is left to you desolate.” Is correct!!! Because the church has forsaken her true work when there is true need!!! Satan has deceived, and taken the church captive, using it to his own ends, Christ is put out of the church, but she still claims The name of Christ. It’s just in name only!!!

If you could do it on a piece of land where everyone had their own space I could imagine doing it and have actually talked with friends about the possibility of doing it. On the sexual front, I do not understand why clergy are not subject to the law. Why do priests not have to face criminal courts? Arghhhh..

I did not read the Atlantic article about not designing dining rooms into living spaces but would have to wonder about the functionality of dining rooms. Traditional dining rooms were seldom used spaces. For many years the trend has been to combine kitchen, dining, and living areas separated by an island or an island with a raised eating bar which greatly contributes to social interaction.
